Well, it's been awhile since I've posted and it's only because I'm finding that my days seem to go by quicker now and sometimes I don't even get in that shower I want/need. Jackson has more awake time and loves to be engaged more than he used to. I find myself looking at the clock and wondering where the day has gone, often feeling like I am getting nothing accomplished. At the same time, I have to remind myself that those things can wait...I won't always get to be home with Jackson.
Today, I managed to slip out to get a much needed pedicure while Jax was napping at home with his Mommom. I've been feeling more stressed lately with sometimes wondering if I am doing everything right with Jackson. I know alot of parenting is trial and error but my biggest fear of the early years of my new baby is his sleeping habits. I myself was not a good sleeper and neither was Mark. Who knows if sleeping habits are passed on but I fear that Jackson might be like me. He continues to fight sleep and is starting to fight his swaddle also. But, he's not ready to be out of his swaddle so I'm stuck! He's been going in spurts of good sleeping and then bad sleeping and back and forth like that frequently. However, he is potentially starting another growth spurt and potentially TEETHING! What!! I just had him in my belly. How can he be getting teeth already? But yes, we are on the brink of these new developments and it definitely is throwing things off.
Needless to say there are a TON of wonderful things happening with only a few negatives mixed in as expected. Jackson had his first encounter with attempting to roll over today. We were doing tummy time, and he got half way over! It was the cutest saddest thing as his one arm ended up getting stuck under him and he started crying. I was able to get his attempt on video so Mark will be able to see what he missed.
Other happenings with the Sleighter's...Mark is finally, possibly going to be switching positions at his job. This position will bring overtime which brings in alot more income but it comes with a price....a hour and a half commute. We are still trying to figure out the logisitics of everything but hoping that things finally fall into place a year and half later!
Besides that, I am continually on the job hunt with little success...not surprising though. So just substituting when I can and looking for other possibilities in the meantime.

My Little Monster
So it's been awhile since I have posted. Jackson has been keeping me busy this week as he is having more and more awake & alert time. He loves his little play gym. He can be occupied with that up to 30 minutes at times. He loves talking and kicking/pushing off with things with his legs. He has little wrist rattles that he loves also. I think his favorite thing still is talking to Mr. & Mrs. Star and Mr. Bear on his swing mobile. The only problem with his increasing activity is that he wears himself out alot quicker thus making it hard to get him to sleep during that small window when he's not overly tired.
Yesterday, he had a really good long nap and I felt like he didn't have alot of play time so I made sure when he woke up that we maximized his awake time. Well, we were having so much fun that the time just flew by and before I knew it, we missed that oh so precious sleep window. Needless to say, Jackson was My Little Monster last night. He ended up being awake from 4:30pm to 8:15pm. Unhappy baby equals unhappy mommy. It was a long 4 hours! Poor thing was so tired he struggled to stay awake to drink his bottle. Then I quickly try to swaddle him so I can lay him down and he's looking at me with his wide-awake eyes!! I couldn't believe it. Luckily, Jackson just needed a little assistance and he was asleep 15 minutes later. He then made up for his Little Monster tendencies by sleeping from 8:15pm-3am. Momma can't complain about that!
So in honor of last night, Jackson is wearing his outfit today that says "Mommy's Little Monster." Luckily, he is the CUTEST little thing ever. I can never be upset at him for long. Picture to come soon. For now, here's a few of my most recent favorites:
Have a fabulous weekend!

Jackson's First Immunizations
Our health insurance issue FINALLY got worked out. It could have taken up to 30 days but thanks to the amazing husband for being so persistant, he got UHC to push our appeal through and get Jackson's insurance activated immediately. It was quite a relief! I am not good at pushing people on the phone where Mark is very good at it. If one person can't or won't help him, he insists on speaking with a supervisor or someone who can help him. I shut down in those situations and he's able to remain calm and get what he wants.
Soo..that meant Jax was able to get his shots on Friday. He did soo well. He got 1 shot in each leg and then an oral vaccine in his mouth which he was not to fond of. Definitely didn't taste like the cherry gas drops or cherry Tylenol he's had. He cried a little but really did far better than I expected. He was in good spirits yesterday but he definitely isn't himself today. He was up at 5:30am and wouldn't go back to sleep. Finally I woke up Mark at 8:30am because I just couldn't keep going. I've been running on very little sleep lately. Jackson hasn't been sleeping well and I haven't been sleeping well while he is sleeping. So it is finally catching up to me. I was able to sleep in for about 3 hours this morning which helped me significantly. I'm already feeling better!
